SmartBear SoapUI Pro Users Can Import and Export Swagger Service Descriptions Using Swagger 2.0 for Smooth Progression while Building APIs
SmartBear Software have released a new plug-in for SoapUI Pro that provides support for Swagger 2.0 service descriptions within the tool.
Swagger is a simple yet powerful representation of your RESTful API. With the largest ecosystem of API tooling in the world, thousands of developers are supporting Swagger in almost every modern programming language and deployment environment. With a Swagger-enabled API, developers get interactive documentation, client SDK generation and discoverability. SmartBear provides developers and testers common tooling to test mock services and APIs. Bringing these technologies together provides developers with a smooth progression from design, code and test while building their APIs.
“Swagger and SoapUI Pro team up together perfectly to make testing a first class activity with any API strategy,” said Swagger creator, Tony Tam, CEO at Reverb Technologies. “With Swagger's accurate and descriptive representation of the API, SoapUI Pro can be quickly configured to make testing fast and delightful.”
SoapUI Pro’s new plug-in architecture makes extending the tool fast and easy. The simplified plug-in framework uses annotation-based extension points instead of XML configuration files and provides automatic installation of any third-party dependencies. A plug-in browser allows SoapUI Pro users to find and install plug-ins quickly and easily. The new Swagger plug-in is available for all SoapUI Pro 5.x users through the built-in plug-in browser.
“Swagger 2.0 moves Swagger to the forefront of both code and contract driven API design principles, and with its extensive eco-system of tools and users, there is no better way to describe your APIs out there,” said Ole Lensmar, CTO of SmartBear. “Using that as a foundation lets you build better tests in SoapUI Pro and ensures test coverage that lets you build better APIs.”
